Welsh Open 2023

On Saturday 18th February, the band travelled to Newport’s Riverfront Theatre to perform their ‘Into the Sky – the story of a pioneer who brought ‘Friendship’ to Wales’ programme as part of the 25th Welsh Open Brass Band Championships. Telling the story of Amelia Earhart’s transatlantic flight from Newfoundland to Burry Port, the programme captured the adjudicator’s attention, as the band came away with a credible 4th place. Testament to the Band’s Youth Development policy, the youngest player on the day, was one of the Band’s Cornet players, Sioned Evans. The Band are now back in rehearsals, preparing for the forthcoming Welsh Championships at Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall in a few weeks’ time.
