Hear from Jo Bartley – our Blast Off into Brass Teacher…

“I am a trombonist and pianist originally from South Yorkshire. In 2004 I started studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama graduating with a Distinction in a Master of Arts Performance Degree. As a performer, I have played in most of the UK’s concert halls with the Welsh National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson and Bryn Terfel to name just a few. I performed Maestersingers at the BBC Proms in 2010 with the WNO and I have performed and competed successfully with some of the UK’s Top Brass Bands, including winning the European Brass Band Championships in 2008 and 2009. I currently teach peripatetically for a local county Music Service and every Saturday I teach at the RWCMD Junior Conservatoire. I have helped to organise many trombone events with the British Trombone Society and I regularly take part in workshops such as the Tiddly Proms events in St Davids Hall every Christmas. As well as my trombone playing and teaching commitments I accompany Sally’s Angels Community Voice Choir in Pontyclun on piano.”
